A significant shift is taking place at Unity, the renowned game engine company, as its former CEO and founder, David Helgason, steps down from the board of directors. Helgason's departure marks the end of an era, as he has been an integral part of Unity's journey for over two decades, alongside his co-founders, Nicholas Francis and Joachim Ante. Kim will join the board and its nominating corporate governance committee, bringing his expertise in building and scaling global, public companies at the intersection of games and technology.
Whitehurst praised Kim, saying, "His leadership in mobile gaming, advertising technology, and consumer platforms will be a valuable asset to the Unity board."
Kim shared his excitement about joining Unity, stating, "I've long admired Unity's impact on the industry, and I'm eager to work with the Board and leadership team as we accelerate our mission to democratize game development."
